Luke 8:15

And they that received seed sown on good ground, are they which, in an honest and good heart, having heard the word; understand it, receive it, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience; some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred.

Matthew 6:3,6,17

But when you do alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does; ... But when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father in secret; ... But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face...

These words tell us to worship The Father without pretense.

Matthew 18:15

Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.

This command is difficult, it tries my honesty.

Luke 17:3

Take heed to yourselves. If your brother trespass against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Matthew 19:17-19,21; Mark 10:19-21; Luke 18:20,22

But if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. You know the commandments. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Defraud not. Honor your father and your mother, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Honesty is a big part of these commands.

Yet one thing you lack. If you will be perfect, go your way, sell all that you have and distribute unto the poor; and you shall have treasure in heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow me.

Honesty requires followers to bring all of self and possessions to the new life in Jesus.

Luke 12:2,3

For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known. Therefore, whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which you have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Recognizing this fact should cause us to live honestly.

Matthew 7:13,14

Enter in at the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat; because strait is the gate and narrow is the way which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:24

Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in and shall not be able.

Honesty is important to those who walk the narrow way.

Raising funds for our ministry poses a distinct problem with honesty.

Matthew 21:13; Mark 11:17; Luke 19:46

Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? But you have made it a den of thieves.

John 13:34,35

A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.

If the Christian community walked in complete honesty (there is no other kind), the world would know we have a great leader.
